Hosne Ara Begum, wife of a Bangladeshi expatriate, who was killed in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, received a compensation cheque for taka two crore yesterday.
Secretary of Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment Begum Shamsun Nahar handed over a check to Hosne Ara Begum, wife of victim Bashir Uddin, at a function at conference room of Wage Earners’ Welfare Board of the ministry with it director general Gazi Julhas in the chair. Bashir hailed from Sylhet was shot to death by a Saudi citizen on September 11, 2009. Later a Saudi court directed the killer to provide taka two crore to family members of the victim as compensation.
Bashir’s sons Sayed Ahmed and Ashraf Ahmed, daughters Rumana Akhter and Afrina Akhter and brother in law Faruk Ahmed were present on the occasion. The ministry secretary also handed over a check of Tk 43.42 lakh to father of another victim Rakib who was killed in Qatar from the same function.
