A tribute to the magical mystery makers

A tribute to the magical mystery makers

Aateeya Saabeen

It’s a Saturday afternoon and you’re bored, so you plug your headphone in your iPod. Shuffling through the playlist you stop at “Yellow Submarine”, and instantly you are relaxed and have the warm Beatles-esque feelings in your mind.
Close your eyes for one second and try to picture the world without the Beatles in it. What if Paul McCartney had to turn in an English paper the next day at school, and couldn’t make it to the church fête where john Lennon was playing with his band “Johnny and the moon dogs”? Or what if George Harrison forgot to call Ringo Starr when they were looking for a new drummer for their band? The world would’ve missed the greatest phenomenon of all time, The Beatles.
The Beatles always managed to be the trendsetter and popularized whatever they did on an international level, the use of Indian classical instrument to create a genre of their own. They were not the first musicians to create the psychedelic genre, but they were the first one to make it mainstream and popular and dared to experiment with beat and instrument like no one else had before.
The Beatles were one of the few bands that were simultaneously the best at what they did and the most popular at what they did. They were rejected and but they stood up many times when they were just an unknown skiffle band, but that didn’t daunt them. They didn’t depress their feelings; they put it on a song.
Their music carries an eternal magnificence that continues to mesmerize new generations of listener and their unabated appeal and fascination continue to exert worldwide even after 45 years since the band broke up.
Hail to the greatest band of all time, the Beatles, who took the early rock and roll genre to another new level and still fascinates us with their experimentation with rhythm and numinous lyrics. And hail to the four scrawny teenagers, who produced magic through their music.
