Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will reiterate Bangladesh’s zero tolerance approach at the Munich Security Summit from February 17 to 19, which is taking place ‘against the backdrop of transatlantic uncertainty and the crisis of the liberal order’. Aside from attending the security conference, the prime minister will hold a bilateral meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, government sources have told The Independent.
Like her previous trip to Davos, Switzerland, last month, the head of the government is flying with a foreign airline instead of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, the national flag carrier.
According to sources, Prime Minister Hasina and her delegation will leave Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport by an Etihad Airways flight on Thursday night.
On Saturday 18, they said, the bilateral meeting between PM Hasina and Chancellor Merkel will cover all the aspects of bilateral relationship with special emphasis on trade, investment, climate change and Rohingya issues.

Besides, both the leaders are all but certain to shed lights on the rise of right wing parties in different countries and the migration issue, they said.
“At the moment, Chancellor Merkel appears to be the voice of the liberal world. Therefore, her role is very important with regard to the world order,” said a senior official.
“We will encourage the Germans to invest in Bangladesh. They are interested in investing in sectors like infrastructure development and renewable energy ,” he said.
On the same day at the conference, the sources said that Prime Minister Hasina will speak on ‘Climate and Human Security’ as a panel discussant. The other panelists include the President of Finland and the Prime Minister of Norway. While delivering, she will highlight the adverse effect of climate change in Bangladesh and is all but certain to remind the developed countries of their obligation to help affected countries mitigate the impact. On counterterrorism, the prime minister will reiterate Bangladesh’s zero tolerance approach against terrorism. She is scheduled to leave Germany on the day and scheduled to return home on Sunday (February 19).
