If the happenings of New Zealand series are anything to go by, it is hard to believe Bangladesh could come up with any resistance against a resurgent Indian spin attack on fifth day. On an increasingly deteriorating pitch, No. 1 and 2 bowlers of the world at the moment—Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja—started getting a huge assistance which is an ominous sign for the batsmen.
But the pitch equation and the threat of Ashwin-Jadeja is another thing. Bangladesh’s vulnerability in the second innings has already become a norm, which is the main issue at the moment. In New Zealand, Bangladesh were blown quickly in the second innings of the both Test.
Bangladesh batting consultant Thilan Samaraweera also admitted that and said it’s a more concern than the threat of Ashwin and Jadeja. “I think our biggest concern is our second innings batting. We have been blown away quickly, in New Zealand,” he said.
He thought Bangladesh got three good balls which was enough to reduce them to 103 for three in pursuit of the target of 459. After being buried by India’s 687-6 dec., Bangladesh were all out for 388, trailing by 299 runs. India then turned heat on Bangladesh by quickly scoring 159-4 dec.
“So far at the moment I know lot of areas is to be improved but at the moment they produced three good balls to take three wickets.
