Yasir Ali hit century after Afif Hossain that guided Islami Bank East Zone to amass 490 against BCB North Zone at stumps on the second day of the third round in the Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong yesterday.
Shuvagata Hom’s all-rounder show gave defending champion Walton Central Zone a paltry 39-run lead against Prime Bank South Zone at the Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah.
East Zone vs North Zone
Resuming the Day-2 on 293-3, Islami Bank East Zone made a healthy total of 490 at the cost of the remaining seven wickets.
Overnight batsmen Zakir Hasan and Yasir Ali tried to widen the total and slammed 45-run for the fourth wicket stand. Zakir fell for 64 off 146 before being caught.
After the fall of Zakir, Yasir Ali stitched together a string of partnerships and converted his overnight score to hundred. The right-handed young batsman shared a couple of handy 50-plus run partnerships including 77-run with Abul Hasan Raju, who fell for 46 (for the seventh wicket and another 52-run with Rahatul Ferdous (11) for the eighth wicket stand.
The 20-year-old batsman clouted eight fours in his patient 250-ball 110 to be remained unbeaten. Yasin Arafat and Sunzamul Islam took three wickets each for the North Zone.
In reply, BCB North Zone put on 28 with no loss. Nazmul Hossain remained at stumps on 13 with Zunaid Siddique being not out on 15.
Central zone vs South Zone
Shuvagata Hom showcased his brilliance with the willow. Hom, who earlier took six wickets, came to the crease at the precarious condition while Central Zone slumped to 132 for six.
Spin all-rounder attempted to steady the ship by handling the batting woes. He hit a string of partnerships including a successful 109-run with Taibur Rahman Parvez for the seventh wicket.
Shuvagata as 10th batsman helped Central Zone give a paltry 39-run lead. Before falling, he clubbed 11 fours and one six in his 125-ball 100.
The experienced left-arm spinner Abdur Razzak was the most successful bowler, who snapped up four wickets including prized wicket of Hom for South Zone.
