AL-backed panel sweeps Barisal bar polls

The Pro-Awami League Sammilito Ainjibi Samannaya Parishad (SASP) swept the election to the executive and sub-committees of Barisal District Bar Association, bagging 11 out of 16 posts.
Meanwhile, the BNP-backed Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Oikya Parishad (JAOP) got five posts including secretary.
Candidates won from the AL- backed panel are-- Adv Syed Obaed Ullah Sajhu (president), Adv Md Emdadul Haque Khan, senior vice president, and Md Alauddin Hawladar, vice president; Adv Anwar Hossain, joint secretary; Adv Halima Begum Happy, Finance Secretary. Those won from BNP-Jammat-backed panel are -- Adv Mokhlesur Rahman Bacchu as secretary; Adv Mokhtar Hosen Sardar, joint secretary.
Total 767 out of 840 voters cast their votes to complete the results of 16 office bearers, including 11 executive body members and 5 subcommittee members. The election was held on Thursday while the results were declared by Advocate Luthfar Rahman Mollah, convener of the election subcommittee, at 12:30 noon on Friday.
