State Minister for ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak yesterday said the government is working to create an ICT ecosystem for ensuring participation of women in all spheres of development, reports BSS. "Like other areas of knowledge, womenfolk must acquire ICT skill to supplement efforts of building digital Bangladesh," he told the inaugural function of two-day National Hackathon for women-2017 at Institution of Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh (IDEB) in the capital.
ICT Division and Women in Digital Bangladesh jointly arranged the national Hackathon, a press release said. President of Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) Mustafa Zabbar, Vice-President of Farhana A Rahman and founder of Women in Digital Achia Khaleda Nila, among others, addressed the function. A total of 500 women are taking part in the national Hachathon.
Palak said, "We should provide equal opportunity for both male and female to ensure inclusive development in the country. We are taking various initiatives to encourage women for their active involvement in ICT."
