BGB rescue two Myanmar army men in Bandarban

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) rescued two members of Myanmar Army, who were abducted by separatists of the neighbouring country, from the tri-junction area along Bangladesh-Myanmar-India border in Bandarban on Tuesday.
They are - Captain Z Tet and Lance Corporal Nein Tu, who were reportedly missing last few days, according to the sources in the BGB’s Bandarban battalion.
Till writing this report, they were in BGB’s camp and would be handed over to the Myanmar Army after holding a flag meeting, the sources said.
According to the sources, the joint force completed a 10-day operation named ‘search and destroy’ in Thanchi of Bandarban bordering Myanmar to demolish the possible hideouts of militant and organised crime groups in the porous border.
Director General (DG) of BGB Major General Aziz Ahmed told The Independent that they have already informed the  Myanmar Army about the recover of the personnel Myanmar army yesterday.
“We will hand them over to the Myanmar army within a shortest time at the Gwan-dom border after holding a flag meeting,” he said.
Major General Aziz also said that the Myanmar army had informed them that two of their army personnel were missing.
Deputy Director General (DDG) of BGB Khandoker Farid Hassan, at a press briefing, held at the BGB’s Headquarters in Peelkhana, said that they have rescued the two Myanmar citizens from a deep forest of the Bandarban frontier.
“After recovering them, they informed us that they are members of Myanmar Army and they were abducted by a miscreant group from their territory,” he said adding, “They are hale and hearty.”
The joint force completed the 10-day long  ‘search and destroy’ operation in different areas especially in Bolipara of Thanchi, Naikhongchori and Alikadom of Bandarban district that was started in cooperation with he BGB, Army and different intelligence agencies from July 5-14.
