India opener Murali Vijay credited captain Virat Kohli to keep them in strong position, stating that he was the reason that India got extra 20 runs at the end.
“It’s always a great sight to see Virat play, the way he is playing at the moment. He has taken his game to a different level at the moment,” Vijay, who himself made 108 to set the tune said.
“End of the day you can see we are 354 (356) and I thought we would be 340 be great. The 10-20 runs extra just happened because of him. Way he was striking the ball was fantastic. Hope he can continue like this tomorrow.”
While most the team became slow towards the end of the day, India rather plundered Bangladesh bowlers to take their score at strong position.
Vijay thinks captain Kohli got a plan for which he accelerated the in such fashion.
“Watching Virat the way he played, got his 100. After the new ball was taken it was more faster I guess. And I think he has a game plan set. It’s working out well for him. As I said hopefully he can continue to go on.”
Murali Vijay however had some memorable stand with Cheteshwar Pujara. They added 370 Runs in India's last Test at this venue, against Australia in 2012-13. They added 178 runs in this Hyderabad Test as well.
It was the Five number of century stands between Vijay and Pujara in this home season - the most by any pair in an Indian season. Vijay Hazare and Rusi Modi had shared four such partnerships in 1948-49.
