U-18 National Football begins March 9

Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) is finally going to resume the Under-18 National Football Championship to kick off from March 9 while the age group national competition used to organise after the name of great national leader Hossain Shahid Suhrawardi.
The tournament committee of the BFF announced it yesterday in a press meet when they stated that the first phase will be held from March 9 in eight venues and the final round will be stage from March 23.
The first phase will be held in round robin league basis while teams will play slitting into two groups and two top teams of each group will play in the semifinal. The zonal champions of first phase will move into the final round while in the final round teams will also be divided into two groups.
Badal Roy, chairman of the BFF development committee while addressing in the press meet said, After long time (last held in 2007) we are going to organise the Suhrawardi Cup National Football Championship, though this time the title of the competition may be changed.
However we have unbelievable response from the participants as 60 district teams sounded positive out of 64 we invited, besides the district, we also invited universities, education boards and the BKSP yet to response.
This time we are organizing the championship in different ways as the district organizers will select players for their respective teams and our coaches will conduct a weeklong basic training before the championship beginning.
Badal also explained that from the first round they will hunt talents and after completing the tournament will select at least 100 players for residential training camp.
About the controversy of players age, Badal Roy said that this time they are very much cautious about the players age as the coaches will work on this and they will try to maintain the standard of age level.
The champions will receive taka one lakh and the runners-up will get Taka 50,000.
Abdus Salam Mursehdi, the senior vice-president of the BFF said that it is one of the programmes of their calendar, they announced for four next four years.
