Two held with fake notes 
Detectives arrested two young men and recovered 46 fake notes amounting to Tk 46,000 from their possession in Doleshwar area in Keraniganj on Wednesday night.
The arrestees were identified as Mohammad Alamin, 35 and Mohammad Munna, 32. Tipped off, a team of Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested the duo at night, said sub-inspector of district DB Rafiuddoula.

Worker killed in wall collapse
A worker was killed and another injured when the boundary wall of a building collapsed on them in the city's Baridhara area on Thursday.
Mizanur Rahman, the duty officer at the Fire Service control room, said part of the boundary wall of the building, located on road No 13, collapsed on workers while they were repairing it around 10:58 am, leaving one dead on the spot and another injured. Firefighters rescued the other workers and took them to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. The identity of the deceased could not yet be known.

Fugitive arrested in Sylhet
Police arrested a fugitive from Borokapon area in Chhatak upazila of Sunamganj district on Wednesday.
Tipped off, a police team intercepted a minibus and arrested Abul Jabbar Moshahid, 40, son of Abul Lais of Palpur village, while going to Sylhet, said Abu Afsar, sub-inspector of Jawa Police camp. He said Jabbar was wanted in a number of cases filed with Chatak Police Station.

50-maund jatka seized 
Police in a drive seized 50-maund of jatka (small hilsa fish) from Rupatoli area in the city yesterday morning.
Being informed, a police team intercepted a Dhaka-bound bus in the area and recovered the jatka after searching the vehicle and arrested its supervisor. Later, he was produced before a mobile court this noon and the court fined him Taka 5,000, said fisheries officer Bimal Das. 

National Jute Day March 6
The week-long National Jute Day-2017 will be observed throughout the country on March 6 amid enthusiasm with a view to make jute goods popular among the people.
State Minister for Textile and Jute Mirza Azam announced this while presiding in the national committee meeting held at the ministry's conference room in the capital yesterday morning. "The country is going to observe the National Jute Day for the first time in state level as the government has approved the day in the cabinet meeting on January 30 this year," said the State Minister.
