38 students of DIU get int'l scholarship
A total of 38 Students and 5 Faculty members of Daffodil International University (DIU) received international scholarships like-- Erasmus+, Mevlana Scholarship, Korean Government Scholarship as well as Student Exchange programme, says a press release.
Two students-- Fazle Rabby of Software Engineering (SWE) department and Shermin Sadia of Electrical and Telecommunication Engineering (ETE) department got a full free scholarship at Staffordshire University, England under ‘Erusmas + Scholarship Year 2017’. Eight students from different department of DIU received ‘Mevlana Scholarship Year 2017’ at Karabuk University (KU), Turkey. 6 students from Nutrition & Food Engineering (NFE) department of DIU are studying at Kasetsart University, Thailand as an Exchange Researcher for one semester as an Exchange Student. Five students from department of CSE & EEE of DIU left Dhaka to study at VIT University, India under ‘Exchange Student’ for one semester as an Exchange Student. 3 students from Entrepreneurship department of DIU have been selected & got visa as exchange students at SIAS International University, China for Spring Semester-2017.
JU science festival begins today
SAVAR: A two-day Science Festival-2017 organised by Jahangirnagar University Science Club (JUSC) in association with Social Islami Bank Limited (SIBL) will begin today on campus with fane fare.
JU Vice Chancellor Prof Farzana Islam will inaugurate this festival at Zahir Raihan auditorium on campus at 10.30am while prominent scientist and also the professor of EEE department of BUET Dr Mohammed Kaykobad will attend this festival as special guest.
The two-day science festival will include science poster presentation for the university level students, quiz competition related science for the school and college level students, science project show for school and college level student, prize giving ceremony and ending session. Around 600 students from 5 public universities, 10 colleges and 15 schools from different parts of the country will participate in the festival with their related events, Abu Sayeed, president of JUSC told The Independent. Earlier, the online registration process began on January 26 which was continued till February 7.
AIUB’s 17th convocation tomorrow
The 17th convocation ceremony of the American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) will be held on the university property at Uttara-10 in the capital on Saturday, says a press release.
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid will preside over the ceremony and confer degrees on 2960 graduates.
Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor Annisul Huq and Chairman of the University Grants Commission Prof Abdul Mannan will be the special guests. Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Harsh Vardhan Shringla will be the convocation speaker. The Chairman, AIUB Board of Trustees Ishtiaque Abedin and Vice- Chancellor Dr Carmen Z Lamagna will also deliver their speeches on this occasion. Gold Medals and other academic awards including Chancellor’s Award, Vice Chancellor’s Award, Dr Anwarul Abedin Leadership Award will be given to deserving students for their excellence in academic performance, distinction and other extra curricular activities.
