1st phase of ICT training kicks off

BSS

The first round of ICT training for 24,000 volunteers kicked off yesterday aiming at preparing and building up a skilled work force to support 2001 labs set up in schools and colleges across the country, reports BSS.
Held at the office of the Deputy Commissioner (DC), Dhaka, designated persons, along with volunteers from 20 schools across the capital attended the event to receive adequate trainings on ICT.
“Zunaid Ahmed Palak, State Minister for ICT Affairs, inaugurated the training session through video conference while Banamali Bhowmik, Director General of the Department of ICT and Mohammad Salahuddin, DC, Dhaka were also present among others,” CRI Assistant Coordinator Tonmoy Ahmed told BSS.  A non-profit group, the Centre for Research and Information (CRI), tied up with the government's ICT Division last year to support 2001 labs under the Sheikh Russel Digital and Language Lab (SRDLL) initiative.
CRI, being the secretariat of Young Bangla, a youth platform, will place two coordinators and ten volunteers in each lab and supervise and monitor those till 2018, bringing in fruition among 2,10,000 school and college goers.
As many as 24,000 volunteers, registered with Young Bangla, will get the training to engage in the lab activities, CRI said in a statement. The training would also be held at district and city corporation levels till June, Ahmed said.
