The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) yesterday submitted a supplementary charge-sheet in seven cases lodged over charges of corruption in the recruitment process for some posts of Bangladesh Railway (east zone).
The then general manager of BR (east zone), Yousuf Ali Mridha, who was later suspended, was indicted in all the cases.
The ACC had earlier dropped Mridha from the seven cases, but they indicted him after a further investigation was ordered by a Chittagong court. Chittagong ACC deputy director Syed Ahmed filed the supplementary charge-sheets in four cases, while its former director, Azizur Rahman Bhuiyan, filed the rest. The charges were filed with the registrar’s office of the Chittagong chief metropolitan magistrate’s court, said Mosharraf Hossain, deputy director of the Chittagong ACC.
Chittagong ACC deputy director Syed Ahmed said he submitted charge-sheets in four cases lodged over corruption in recruitment for the post of court inspector, trade apprentice, physical exercise teacher and record-keeper.
Yousuf Ali Mridha, former welfare officer of BR (east zone), Golam Kibria, and 26 job-seekers were indicted in the cases, said Syed. Chittagong former ACC director Abdul Aziz Bhuiyan said he submitted a charge-sheet in three cases lodged over irregularities in the appointments for the posts of carpenter, goods office assistant and data entry operator. Mridha, Kibria and two job-seekers were indicted in the cases.
