Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader yesterday warned that stern actions will be taken if anyone charges the homebound people additional transport fares during Eid-ul-Fitr journey.
The minister came up with this remark while talking with the reporters after visiting Gabtali Bus Terminal in the capital to observe the transport situation, reports UNB.
Quader said homebound people will enjoy a comfortable journey during this Eid as there is no problem on the roads and highways.
When asked about the traffic jam situation, the minister said traffic congestion has reduced remarkably as roads and highways have been made fit for vehicular movement.
However, some drivers drive vehicles haphazardly which creates traffic jam on the highways, he added.
Quader also said there is no allegation of robbery and extortion on the highways as the law enforcing agencies have taken all-out preparations to make trips of the homebound people hassle-free.
