Recently, the General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China issued the “13th Five-Year Plan for National Port Development”. Shangri-La Airport in Yunnan Province’s Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, and the Kunming railway terminal for the Yunnan-Central Europe freight train, are both included in the Five-Year Plan. Among other projects included in the Five-Year Plan are the Tianpeng and Mengman land ports, as well as Jinghong’s traditional water port.
So far, a total of 25 ports have been established in Yunnan Province. Among them, 18 belong to the first class, including four airports, two water ports, one railway port and eleven road ports. Of the seven second-class ports, all are of the road variety.
