The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court (SC) yesterday upheld a High Court ban against Darul Ihsan University, declaring it illegal for numerous irregularities, reports BSS.
A four-member Appellate Division panel headed by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha passed the order.
"All the activities of Darul Ihsan University have now been closed. It is a strong message for all the private universities. Court is very strict over irregularities in universities," Attorney General Mahbubey Alam told the newsmen after the order.
The High Court on April 13, 2016, closed the varsity following 12 writ petitions filed over its activities. The university was notorious for different irregularities including certificate trade, running multiple campuses throughout the country and dispute over its ownership.
