N Korea minister criticised for excessive purges

Allegations of   excessive purges and misuse of power have been raised against North Korea's Minister of State Security (MSS) Kim Won-hong, whose position corresponds to South Korea's Director of the National Intelligence Service, a reecnt international media report said.
He is known to have conducted excessive purges and arrogated power leaning on First Secretary of the Workers' Party Kim Jung-un's trust, This has reportedly led to mounting discontent and strife among the cadres of the reclusive regime, the report added.
The DPRK is tirelessly trumpet its system of “absolute guidance” centred on Kim Jong Un; but suggests otherwise – that ‘Kim Jong Un is a puppet who is being controlled by the elite’.
An inner circle of elite, with its focal point in the Organization and Guidance Department (OGD), has now cemented itself as the collective leadership of North Korea.
From there outwards, as according to OGD tradition, those who have trusted and close relationships to the centre are entrusted with power throughout different sectors and branches.
A source with knowledge of the internal situation of North Korea was quoted on Wednesday as saying, "Kim Won-hong has elicited much criticism by tapping even high-ranking officials' cell phones, counting on Kim Jung-un's absolute confidence."
The source also mentioned that "Kim is at variance with Director of the KPA General Political Bureau Hwang Pyong-so due to Kim's attempt to supervise affairs of the military's Security Bureau, a North Korean counterpart of the South's Defense Security Command."
Purportedly, Kim Won-hong gives exaggerated reports on his political rivals to Kim Jung-un so as to prompt the young leader to purge and eliminate them.
After being appointed in Apr. 2012 to the state security minister, which had been vacant for 25 years, Kim spearheaded the investigation and purge of Jang Sung-taek and his close associates. Kim has also reportedly been recognized by Kim Jung-un as "my right-hand man" and "a member of my family unit."
The source also said that "Kim's son Kim Chol currently serving as an executive of a trading firm under the North's military has amassed a sheer amount of money by selling minerals to China and engaging in the regime's foreign currency earning projects, fully taking advantage of his father's clout," and that "there are many cases where Kim Chol who is called 'the little head of the MSS' complies with requests from others in return for personal benefit."
