REHAB fair begins in Ctg

A four-day housing and real estate fair began in Chittagong city yesterday to promote sales of affordable flats and plots for the customers.
Housing and Public Works Minister Eng Mosharraf Hossain inaugurated the `REHAB Fair 2017 as the chief guest at Radisson Blu Bay View Hotel.
The Chittagong chapter of Real Estate and Housing Association of Bangladesh (REHAB) organised the fair for the 10th time in the countys premier port city.
In his speech, Housing and Public Works Minister said that incentive is needed to real state and housing sector for encouraging concerned businessmen.
He said a flat buyer gave 14 per cent registration fee on the total cost. Its too high. It should be decreased in seven percent.
If the registration fee is not decreased, people will not be interested to buy flats.
The minister urged developer companies to set up small Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) in big housing projects to save environment.
Chaired by Chairman of REHAB Chittagong Regional Committee Md Abdul Kauiam Chowdhury, REHAB President Alamgir Shamsul Alamin, REHAB vice-president and also the lawmaker Nurun Nabi Chowdhury Shaon Chittagong Development Authority Chairman Abdus Salam, among others, spoke at the programme.
REHAB president Alamgir Shamsul Alamin urged the government to bring down the cost of flat registration in seven percent which is now 14 per cent.
A total of 72 business firms including real estate companies, financial institutions and building material manufacturing companies from Chittagong and Dhaka are participating in the fair to showcase their offers through 90 stalls.
