8 sued over model Mithila suicide case

A case has been filed with Bandar police station in the city on Friday accusing eight people over model Jacklin Mithila ‘suicide’ case. 

Mithila was found hanging from a ceiling of her house with a scarf. Over the incident her father Swapan Shil filed the case accusing her husband Utpal Ray and seven members of her in-laws mentioning his daughter’s name Joya Shil.
Police quoting Mithila’s father said about two weeks ago Joya Shil (Mithila) came in Chittagong from Dhaka. She informed that she got married one Utpal Ray of Fatikchhari upazila of Chittagong. But her in-laws refused Mithila to accept her as bride.  Moreover, threatening Mithila’s family over mobile phone to leave Utpal, said the sources. On Friday, Mithila committed suicide leaving a suicidal note.
Contacted, Bikash Sarkar, officer-in-charge (investigation), said, “One Swapan Shill filed a case with Bandar police station on Friday that his daughter Joya Shil has allegedly been committed suicide. We are investigating into the case.”
