Eight of Uttara teen gangs held

The anti-crime elite force Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in separate raids in the capital’s Uttara on Tuesday night arrested eight members of the two notorious teenage gangs Disco Boys and Big Boss in connection with the murder of schoolboy Adnan Kabir. 

The arrestees were identified as ringleader of Disco Boys Shahriar Bin Sattar Setu alias Raihan Ahmed Setu alias Disco Setu, 22, ringleader of Big Boss Md Akhteruzzaman Chhoton, 19,  Md Ibrahim Hossain alias Suny, 28, Mizanur Rahman Suman,22, Md Shahinur Rahman, 17, Md Ramzan Mobarak, 17, Md Selim Khan,23, and Zahidul Islam Juice, 21. Of them, Shahriar and Chhoton were named accused of Adnan murder. 
Getting secret information, RAB in their separate raids arrested the eight from road No 17 and 9 under Sector 14 of Uttara in the capital.
RAB also seized three knives, two chapatis, two pieces of iron rod, three chains, three spray colour bottles, two school bags and 190 pieces of contraband yaba tablets from their possession , said, RAB media wing Director Mufit Mahmud Khan.  Some members of the two gangs stabbed to death a school student, Adnan Kabir, 14, in front of house no-15, road no 17 under Sector-13 of Uttara on January 6.
While addressing the press briefing, RAB media wing Director Mufit Mahmud Khan said, Adnan Kabir was killed as a sequel to the rivalry among different gangs over establishing supremacy in the area.
He said members of Disco Boys and Big Boss gangs wanted to kill Nine Star gang's leader Raju following a conflict.
The RAB officer said as Raju went into hiding they beat up and hacked Adnan, a member of this group, to death.
According to the RAB Media and Legal Wing boss, there are some 30 groups in Uttara and adjacent areas with over 100 members. Teenagers and adolescent boys are members of these groups.  
They engaged in ragging in schools and colleges in the area and harassing school going girls. Besides, they take drugs,  ride motorcycle and cars recklessly for creating panic and share obscene videos.
