A woman was killed allegedly by her son at village Jatrasiddhi in Gafargoan upazila of Mymensingh on Tuesday noon.
The victim was identified as Halima Khatun, 60, wife of late Surjot Ali of Jatrasiddhi.
Quoting family and local people as saying, Md Chand Miah, officer-in-charge of Pagla Police Station in Gafargoan said there was a conflict over land among Halima and her two sons- Mission, 40, and Ripon, 32.
The brothers locked in an altercation over the feud at their house on Tuesday noon. At one stage, Ripon allegedly forwarded to his elder brother Mission with a knife. At this, Halima rushed to the spot and wanted to stop them but at one stage of their quarrel, she was hacked by Ripon.
Critically injured Halima was rushed to Gafargoan Upazila Health Complex where the doctors declared her dead. On information, police rushed to the spot, recovered the body and sent it to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
