Two medical students sank down into a quicksand at Lalakhal Mistrighat in Jaintiapur upazila of Sylhet yesterday afternoon, reports UNB. The deceased were identified as Hasan M Sayeed, 25, son of Humayun Reza of Dhaka, and Ishak Ibrahim, 25, son of M Ibrahim Hossain of Chapainawabganj district. Both were 5th year students of Jahurul Islam Medical College in Kishoreganj. Witnesses said Sayeed and Ishak along with three of their friends were enjoying a boat ride at the Zero Point at Lalakhal in the afternoon.At one stage, they got off from the boat to take a bath. However, Sayeed and Ishak got stuck in a quicksand. Their friends and locals rescued the two medical students and took them to Jaintiapur Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared them dead. Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Sohel Mahmud and officer-in-charge of Jaintiapur Model Police Station Safiul Kabir visited the hospital.
