Long queues and confusion over getting a ticket. It's ok if one gets a ticket, otherwise all the effort is in vain.
But here is something that will make ticket-seekers happy. bdtickets.com has an easy solution: buying tickets online. The website was launched in June through the selling of bus tickets. Tickets of train, launch and even movies are likely to be available soon.
Terming bdtickets.com as a real time digital ticket platform, Kamrul Islam, an employee of the private organisation, said: “I need no longer go to a bus counter to buy a ticket. This has been made possible by bdtickets.com. The payment system of the website is also easier. No printout of the ticket is needed. Anyone can board a bus by showing the SMS of purchasing a ticket,” he added.
Echoing Kamrul, Dhaka University student Aritree said he does not need to go to a bus counter for a ticket after completing his classes, assignment and exams for returning home.
“No printout of the ticket is needed. The schedule and other information are sent to the client through SMS after the ticket is collected from bdtickets.com. There is also an e-mail option for getting the ticket. Anyone can start the journey by showing the SMS or e-mail,” he said.
Aritree said most people are worried about getting a bus ticket before Eid. “But I got a ticket staying at the university dormitory and am now going home.”
Bus owners too have appreciated the initiative. They said that along with passengers they have benefited from the service. A total of 22 transport companies who are operating AC and non-AC bus services on 500 routes across the country have teamed up with bdtickets.com. Cellular phone operator Robi Axiata is providing the necessary infrastructure.
Bazlur Rahman Ratan, managing partner of Desh Travels, said: “bdtickets.com has drawn attention and a good number of passengers are inquiring everyday about the service by coming to the counter.”
National Travels has always tried to do something new for its clients, said general manager Kayser Ahmed Bipul. “We’ve got a good response from bdtickets ahead of Eid and will try to offer quality service in partnership with bdtickets,” he added.
M Salauddin Khan, owner of Saint Martin Paribahan, opined that they would get more response through bdticket round the year if there is more publicity about it. Robi launched its premium e-ticketing platform, bdtickets.com, in June. This customer-centric platform provides the customers with the convenience of purchasing a bus ticket without having to brave the notorious city traffic.
Clients are able to purchase tickets from any location any time, just by visiting bdtickets.com. Now anyone can search for availability of seats on a bus and choose one’s preferred seat. The platform uses a highly secured payment channel.
The portal offers a list of available buses once a user selects a route. The user then selects the date of travelling, the departure and destination point and the bus they want to travel by and then proceed to make payment using their debit/credit card/ bKash account.
An SMS is sent to the user once the purchase is confirmed. The SMS has a reference number, along with other ticket related information. One can just board the bus showing the SMS.
In case one wants to cancel a ticket, one has to click on the cancellation link provided on the portal.
