CHITTAGONG: The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) arrested a revenue officer of Chittagong City Corporation (CCC), in the city while receiving money from one building owner in exchange of reducing holding tax to its Chandgaon office at about 11.40 am yesterday, reports BSS.
CCC revenue circle 2 officer Ali Akbar was arrested from Chandgaon Sub-revenue office in the city under Chandgaon thana around 11:40 am yesterday, ACC Deputy Director Mosharf Hossain told journalists.
Earlier, a complaint lodged before ACC against Ali Akbar by building owner Jamal Uddin hailed from Rupali residential area recently. Mosharf Hossain, Deputy Assistant director of ACC, Chittagong Division said ACC officials nabbed the CCC employee during a surprise raid on the office while Ali Akbar had been receiving Taka twenty thousand from Jamal Uddin inside its Chandgaon sub revenue office. The ACC teams recovered Taka 20,000 from the possession of Ali Akbar, he added.
Sources said Ali Akbar earlier demanded Taka 50 thousand from Jamal Uddin, to reduce his holding tax but he gave 20 thousand to him as per deal.
