Road accident kills woman
PIRGANJ: A woman was killed and her husband
injured critically as a bus hit their motorbike in
Borodorga area of the upazila yesterday morning,
reports BSS.
The victim was Nargis, 35, a NGO worker and wife of school teacher Mahabubur Rahman, resident of Kanchangari village of the upazila.
Police said the accident occurred when a bus of
“Tista Paribahan” hit the motorbike in the area at about 8.30 am, leaving the bike rider Nargis dead on the spot and Mahabubur critically injured.
He was sent to Rangpur Medical College Hospital.
A case was filed in this connection.
Arms, ammo seized

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in a drive seized a pistol, two magazines and four bullets from Pechipara frontier area under Shibganj upazila of the district yesterday noon.
On a tip-off, a team of the BGB from Chowka Border outpost conducted a raid in the area and seized the arms and bullets, BGB official said.
Sensing the presence of the BGB team, the arms
trader fled away leaving the arms and ammunition,
he said.
Youth electrocuted in Chandpur

A young man was electrocuted at Paikdi village in Sadar upazila on Sunday afternoon.
The victim was identified as Makbul Hossain
Patwary, 25, son of Md Yunus Patwary, a resident of the village.
Family members said Makbul was injured when he came in contact with a live wire while plugging his mobile phone for charging it at his house.
He was rushed to Chandpur Government General Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
27 arrested in Satkhira
SATKHIRA: Police, in special drives from Sunday night to yesterday morning, arrested 27 accused from seven upazilas of the district, reports BSS.
Sources with the district police said they were picked up from different areas of the district.
During the drives, Satkhira Sadar police arrested 11 persons, Kalaroa police four, Tala police two, Kaliganj police three, Shyamnagar police two, Assasuni police three, Patkelghata police one and Debhata police arrested one accused.
Several cases, including charges of subversive
activities, are pending with different police stations
against the arrested persons, the sources
added.
The arrested were sent to jail this morning.
