3 arrested for embezzling Tk 1.19cr

RAJSHAHI: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) detained three persons, including a woman, for their alleged involvement in misappropriating Taka 1.19 crore from Sonali Bank in Tanore of the district, sources here said yesterday, reports BSS.
The arrested persons were identified as Masud Hassan Masud, 35, Nazir Hossain, 32, and his wife Salma, 28.
On a tip-off, the RAB members conducted raids in different areas and picked them up one after another.
Lt Col Mahbub Alam, Commanding Officer of RAB-5, told the local journalists that Nazir Hossain working in IT section of Tanore Branch of Sonali Bank Limited lifted the money through using his personal password.
He misappropriated the entire money in collaboration with other detained persons.
Afterwards on June 24 last, the bank authority lodged a complaint against Nazir Hossain with local police station. The bank also filed a case with local Anti Corruption Commission.
