BKSP retain youth hockey title

Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Pratisthan (BKSP) retained the title of the National Youth Hockey Championship when they trounced Dhaka Education Board by 5-0 in the 26th Agrani Bank National Youth Hockey yesterday.

Held at the Maulana Bhashani Hockey Stadium, in the one-sided match BKSP led the first half by 3-0 and added two more goals in the second half when Shohanur Rahman and Mohammed Mohsin scored two goals each.
Shohan, who scored highest 22 goals in six matches, opened the scoring in the 20th minute with sounding the board from a penalty corner and Debashish doubled the advantage on 28th minute when Mohsin provided the ball.
Mohsin himself scored the third goal for BKSP to make the lead 3-0 in the first half on 29th. Mohsin increased margin scoring his second in the very second minute after the break and Shahan closed sheet two minutes before the final whistle.
It was 13th title for BKSP in the National Youth Hockey as they also won the title for a record eighth time in a row from 1994 to 2007. Champions BKSP received taka 30,000 while Dhaka Education Board was awarded with Taka 20,000 as runners-up team.
Shafiul Alam Shishir won the prize money of Taka 10,000 as the best player of the competition while highest  scorer’s prize money went to Shohanur with Taka 10,000.
Pankaz Roy Chowdhury, general manager of the Agrani Bank distributed prizes among the winners as chief guest when deputy manager of the bank Shahdat Hossain was present as special guest with Abdus Sadeque, general secretary of the Bangladesh Hockey Federation was also present among others in the final.
