Uplift projects implemented in Khulna

KHULNA: With the aim to modernize Khulna region, the Khulna Road and Highways (RH) Division has implemented several development projects in last eight years, reports BSS.
The RH division has also taken up 11 mega projects, which three projects are implementing in full swing, sources said. Apart from developing Khulna region, the schemes are targeted to develop Satkhira with bridge and culvert. All the projects were implemented by the government funds, the projects mainly focus on solution to the bridge and culvert problem, expansion and construction of road and highway.
The RH sources said, a total of 57-km road were completed involving cost of Taka 86.8 crore while 968.84 meters bridge and culvert were completed involving cost of Taka 80.16 crore.
The completed projects are 29-km Dighaia-Terokhada road repairing, 28- km Fultala-Dumuria road construction, 48.80 meter Gallamary Bridge, 90 meter Sholgaty Bridge, 259.88-meter Batiaghata Bridge, 346.76-meter Shibsa Bridge and 223.40-meter Koyra Bridge construction.
The projects which are implementing are 27.25 km Khulna-Batiaghata-Dakope and Nalian-Forest road construction with a cost of Taka 79.04 crore, 23 kms Rupsha-Srifaltala-Terokhada roads construction with a cost of Taka 45. 30 crore and 16-km Khulna district road construction with a cost of Taka 7.5 crore. These projects are expected to be complete by 2017.
Meanwhile, eight more projects are awaiting approval. These are construction of 28.30-km road from Khulna to Satkhira through Chuknagar with a cost Taka 154.83 crore, 64.60-km Betgram to Koyra road through Tala with a cost Taka 115 crore, 43-km road from Dakop to Tala, Terokhada to Kalia, Keshobpur to Betgramand Koyra to Shyamnagar with a cost of Taka 55.5 crore, 4-km Moylapota to Zero point with a cost of Taka 45 crore. A total of 3889-meter Bridge and Culvert at Jhapjhapia, Podderganj, Nagorghata and Arua will construct with a cost of Taka 1356.84crore.
