Awami League MP Suranjit Sengupta has been admitted to Labaid hospital in the capital for heart-related complications. The condition of Suranjit, who is also a cancer patient, is ‘very critical’, said hospital sources. The former Railways Minister was admitted to the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) of the hospital on Friday morning and was put on life support yesterday night as his condition deteriorated, said sources at the hospital. Preparations have been taken to shift him to a Singapore hospital by air ambulance, if necessary, sources close to Suranjit. The senior ruling-AL leader is a member of the party’s advisory council and also the chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.
