He sat at my meeting..!

Standing up for what one thinks is right, is not as easy a task as I had thought, and have been facing onslaught after onslaught from some bullies who haven’t yet realized that with the media and technology, the days of secret bullying are over. I had even gone through a meeting when a petty politician of the present ruling party told me he’d cut of my fingers if I wrote about him.
Yesterday was another meeting, and unfortunately it was kept at the same time, I attend church. It’s not that I am too ritualistic a person, but I do enjoy that hour or two I can praise and worship God, and immediately told the people who had called me for the meeting that the time they had kept the meeting was the time I attended church.
“That’s okay, you can skip church!” said the government officer, who’s encroachments I had attacked in a column.
I prayed about it, and a strange thought, certainly divine came into my mind, “You go and worship me in church,” chuckled a God above. “I’ll go to the meeting for you!”
I went to church and enjoyed the service. I also told the priest about the daughter of a dear friend of mine, a thirty two year old girl, who had just been diagnosed with cancer, and felt happy as the padre asked everybody to pray for her and himself upheld her in a special appeal to God.
“How was the meeting?” I asked a friend who had gone.
“Everything went fine!” said my friend, “The problem they had with you has been sorted out!”
It sounds so simplistic doesn’t it? But that is what God is all about; having the faith a child has in his father, that’s the faith we need to learn to have for God.
Forget books on theology that try to explain intricate and philosophical things about the divine. Just pray, believe and watch what happens.
But also remember that to pray to God, we also need to obey God. There is a famous hymn which I love, which says that we need to trust and obey. “Trust and obey,” go the lines, “There is no other way!”
How like our relationship with our earthly father, it’s when he knows that we obey him, that he rewards us! It doesn’t work any other way.
Trust in God alright, but if it means continuing to obey your own self and skipping God’s will, it’s a waste of your time.
Yesterday, God sat at my meeting, while I sat at His..!
