State Minister for Foreign Affairs M Shahriar Alam has reminded the Bangladeshi expatriates and their relatives at home that the government will bear the cost of bringing the bodies of expatriates back home if any family is unable to do that, reports UNB.
He conveyed the message to Bangladeshi expatriates through a Facebook post on Saturday saying 'though the matter (demise of any expatriate abroad) is not a matter of joy'.
The State Minister said the current government took the decision much earlier and government bears cost of burial, too.
Shahriar urged the Bangladeshi expatriates to communicate with the concerned Bangladesh missions abroad first though the Wage Earners Welfare Board under the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment looks after the matter.
