Customs intelligence at Hazrat Shahjalal ® International Airport in the capital yesterday detained a man and recovered 370 grams of gold from his possession, reports BSS.
The man, Md Masud from Barisal disembarked from Biman Bangladesh flight BG-087 coming from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, at 8 am and tried to leave the Green Channel area hastily after collecting his luggage.
Customs intelligenzce officials challenged him and seized the gold hidden inside the buckles of his belt and the frame of his trolley bag in 23 pieces.
The estimated cost of the gold recovered from Masud is Taka 17 lakh.
Meanwhile, customs officials arrested a Dubai returned passenger along with four gold bars, weight of around half a kilogram, worth about Tka 24 lakh from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital early Friday.
