Gold bars seized at Dhaka airport

Customs officials arrested a Dubai returned passenger along with four gold bars, weight of around half a kilogram, worth about Tka 24 lakh from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital early yesterday, reports BSS. "Acting on a tip-off we arrested one Awlad Hossain, of Gazipur, from the airport and recovered four gold bars kept inside his shoe," joint commissioner of customs Sohel Rahman said.  The value of the seized gold bars is Tk 24 lakh, he said, adding that the arrestee, who returned to Dhaka by a flight (B-9515) of Air Arabian from Dubai early yesetrday. A case was lodged with Bimanbandar Police Station to this end.
