Microsoft Bangladesh is initiating coding for local school children to teach students the basics of computer programming. As a part of ¬this initiative, Microsoft Bangladesh will organize a two-hour workshop titled ‘Coding for Kids’ on Friday at Bangabandhu Interna-tional Conference Centre (BICC) as part of the BASIS SoftExpo-2017.
The event is open for all school children from class 1-8, says a press release.
Tarana Halim, state minister for posts and telecommunications division, will be the chief guest at this session while Bonomali Bhowmik, DG, ICT Division, Ministry
of Post, Telecommuni-cations and Information Technology and Abdur
Rob, Director (Policy and Operations), joint secretary, Directorate of Primary Education, Ministry of Primary and Mass Education,will be the special guests.
“According to a recent study by Accenture, digital technology will propel $2 trillion of the global economic output by 2020. It is critical for children to learn technology based skills which they need to seize the unprecedented opportunities ahead,” Sonia Bashir Kabir, managing director
of Microsoft Bangladesh, said.
“Can we imagine a future where every youth in Bangladesh is equipped with the foundations computer science and coding and trained in problem solving and critical thinking skills which are required to thrive in the tech-powered world?
There will be no limit to what they achieve,” Kabir added.
