‘The Campeones’ of IBA wins Brandwitz 2016
The grand finale of inter-business school marketing competition ‘Brandwitz 2016’, organised by IBA Communication Club of the Institute of Business Administration, Dhaka University, was held at a hotel in the capital on Tuesday, says a press release.
Team ‘The Campeones’, consisting of Tausif Ahmed, Toufiqul Islam Mannan Shourov, Nabid Hassan and Tasmia Tabassum, from IBA, Dhaka University (DU), became the champion of Brandwitz 2016. ‘Challenge Accepted’, consisting of Ahmed Tashfiq Rafsan, Ayman Rahman, Abreshmee Adeeba Haque and Sami Tahsin, from IBA, DU, was announced as the 1st runner-up and ‘Team Potter’, consisting of Taosif Amin Khan, Mastura Tasnim, Tanzir Islam and Rakib Ibnay Hossain, from IBA, DU was the 2nd runner-up of the contest. State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md Shahriar Alam presided over as chief guest along with Prof AKM Saiful Majid, director of Institute of Business Administration, DU.
They along with high officials of Noman Group handed over the prizes to the champion and runners up teams. The judges' panel for the gala round included, Faruque Hassan, senior vice president, BGMEA and managing director, Giant Apparels Ltd, Hasan Shibli, managing director and CEO, Base Textiles Limited and Shariful Islam, Founder, Bangladesh Brand Forum. The theme for the final round is focused on branding the Ready Made Garments Made in Bangladesh to prospective global buyers.
The winning team of Brandwitz 2016 received Tk 2.50 lakh, with the first and second runners-up bagged Tk 1.50 lakh and BDT 1 lakh respectively. Total six teams from IBA, Dhaka University, Jahangirnagar University and North South University were selected for final.
Certificate course on public health challenges ends
Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) and the University of Maryland, College Park (UMD) jointly delivered a Certificate Course on Global Classroom Initiative: Addressing Current, Pressing Global, and Environmental Public Health Challenges on the IUB premises at Bashudhara in the capital, says a press release.
This 4-month course took place from September to December 2016 under the School of Public Health, IUB. Virtual classes, under the course, included field research where students from Bangladesh and USA participated. The next course will be offered in Autumn Semester, 2017.
After the successful completion of the joint course, Prof M Omar Rahman, vice chancellor and Dean of the School of Public Health, IUB, handed over certificates to the student-participants on Tuesday at his office. Dr Shamsun Nahar Ahmed, course faculty, was also present during the occasion.
