Officers and Employees of Barisal City Corporation (BCC) yesterday observed work abstention programme for 3 hours demanding their arrears and dues of last 4 months.
They also staged demonstration inside the office from 11:30am in support of their demand.
Dipak Lal Mridha, Conservancy officer and Spokesman of the programme, said about 500 regular employees of BCC are not getting salary since 4 months. Officers and employees of the BCC demanded their dues for a long and have been holding different programmes but authority did not pay any heed to it. We will extend our programme if authority failed to pay dues on time. Additional policemen have been deployed all over the BCC compound. Md Waheduzaman, Chief Executive Officer of BCC, said “We have already paid two months’ due salaries of the officers and employees last month. But before the starting of the programme they did not inform it to us about their demand”. He hoped that problem will be solved soon.
