Khadija Akhtar, the college student from Sylhet, who was chopped by a stalker failing in her advances, returned home yesterday from Centre for the Rehabilitation of the Paralysed
(CRP) in Savar, where she was undergoing treatment to walk and speak again.
Accompanied by her elder brother Shahin Ahmad Khadija was received by her family, including father Mashuk Mia at the Sylhet MAG Osmani Airport. Khadija received serious injuries on her head and arms by a Chhatra League leader of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology Badrul on October 3 last year after she came out of her examinations appearing in BA(Pass) at MC College. The stalker was caught by people who handed him over to police. Khadija was rushed to MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital in a critical condition. From there she was sent to Dhaka Square Hospital undergoing surgeries.
But on November 28 she was sent to Savar CRP where she was undergoing treatment to restore her paralysed arms and legs. Though Khadija was taken to her village home in Ausha of Sadar Upazila she would be taken back to CRP for further treatment, Shahin Ahmed told reporters in Sylhet. Badrul is undergoing trial for attempting to kill Khadija at the Chief Judicial Magistrates Court of Sylhet. Khadija is scheduled to appear before to the court to provide her testimony on February 26.
