The Chief of Staff of Kuwait Armed Forces, Lt-Gen. Mohammad Khaled Al-Kheder, has expressed his interest in sending even more Kuwaiti soldiers to Bangladesh, for training at military training centres. At present, 15 Kuwaiti military officers are undergoing training at the Bangladesh Army Staff College. He made this statement during a courtesy call by a delegation of the Bangladeshi parliamentary standing committee on defence, at his office yesterday.
The delegation, led by chairman of the parliamentary standing committee on defence, Maj.-Gen. (retd) Subid Ali Bhuiyan, also included Muhammad Faruk Khan, Dr Dipu Moni, Mahmud Us Samad Chowdhury, Md Mahbubur Rahman, and Hosneara Begum. The Kuwaiti chief of staff informed the delegation that about 6,000 Bangladeshi military personnel are working in Kuwait. "We see no difference between the military personnel of Bangladesh and Kuwait. The military relations between the two countries will grow even more, in future," he said.
He remembered the contribution of the members of the Bangladesh military, during the Gulf War in 1991.
Gen Bhuiyan sought more military cooperation between the two countries. He invited the Kuwaiti chief of staff to visit Bangladesh.
The Bangladesh delegation also called on Kuwait’s ministry of defence under-secretary Yasser Al Yasser, at his office.
The Kuwaiti under-secretary said that a number of Bangladeshi military personnel were working in that country, with sincerity.
"Bangladeshi military personnel who are working in Kuwait are part of our family," he said.
