Huge hilsa fry seized; 21 held
Shariatpur: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested 21 people along with 6,000 kilograms of jatka (hilsa fry) from Burirhat Bazar in Sadar upazila early yesterday, reports UNB.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of Madaripur Rab-8 halted 12 jatka-laden human haulers in the area at the dead of night and recovered the jatka, said executive magistrate Ziaur Rahman. He said the seized fish was distributed among the destitute people of the area.
Furniture shop catches fire

A fire broke out at a furniture shop in Ford Nagar area of Singair upazila yesterday morning.
Shahadat Hossain, station manager of Manikganj Fire Station, said the fire originated from a shop of ‘Akhtar Furnishers’ around 10.30am.
On information, he said, eight fire-fighting units from Savar and Manikganj fire stations rushed in and were trying to put out the flame. It is not still clear what exactly caused the fire.
Five crude bombs recovered

Police in a drive recovered five crude bombs from Arabpur in the district town on Monday evening.
Tipped off, a police team raided the local BRTC bus counter and recovered the abandoned crude bombs, said Jasimuddin Khan, a sub-inspector of Kotwali Police Station. A case was filed.
Two killed in wall collapse
Rangamati: Two people were killed in a wall collapse at a Buddha Bihar at Raikhali Motipara in Kaptai upazila on Monday, reports UNB. The deceased were Chaila Pru Marma and Mong Kaw Sing Marma.
Shahidullah, Rangamati Police Super, said a portion of a wall of Raikhali Motipara Buddha Bihar fell on the duo during the renovation work in the afternoon, killing them on the spot. The bodies were taken to a local hospital morgue.
48 arrested in Dinajpur
DINAJPUR: Police in special drives arrested 48 people including nine drug peddlers and recovered huge drugs- phensidyl, yaba and ganja from ten upazilas of the district during the last 15 hours, reports BSS.
Ghoraghat police recovered 350 grams of ganja from the upazila. Hakimpur police recovered 309 pieces Yaba tablets.
Several cases were pending with different police stations in these connections.
