Director General (DG) of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Maj Gen Abul Hossain yesterday said the incidents of border killings have come down compared to what happened in the past.
He said they will set up thermal scanners and watchtowers at different border points to curb intrusion and smuggling.
The BGB chief came up with these remarks while talking to reporters after visiting Putkhali, Daulatpur and Gatipara border areas.
He said they will construct roads along the border soon to increase patrols by border guards.
“We've no objection if Indian nationals provide us cattle at the border point, but no Bangladeshis will be allowed to cross the border illegally for bringing in any cattle,” the BGB DG said.
Commanding officer of BGB's southwest region Brig Gen Wahiduzzaman, sector commander of Khulna region Col Iqbal Hossain, commanding officer of BGB-49 Lt Col Khabiruddin and commanding officer of BGB-21 Lt Col Arifur Rahman were also present during the visit.
