Dr Fayequzzaman joins as KU VC
KHULNA: Prof Md Fayequzzaman took charge as Vice-Chancellor of Khulna University for second time on Monday.
Earlier, treasurer of KU Khan Atiar Rahman received the newly appointed VC with a bouquet of flowers and teachers, officers and employees welcomed him at Shaheed Tazuddin Ahmed administration building. After joining, the VC said, "I shall try my level best to discharge my duty with honesty and integrity. I seek cooperation from teachers, officers, employees and students." He also placed floral wreaths at Shaheed Minar, Adommoya Bangla, a monument in memory of freedom fighters, and Kotka memorial, a monument in memory of 11 students of architecture discipline of KU who drowned during bath in the Sundarbans on March 13, 2004. Deans of different disciplines, Provosts, Proctor, Resistrar and others teachers and officers attended the joining ceremony. Later, VC Professor Md Fayequzzaman went to the at Ark KU Degree show at the Architect Discipline and visited different thesis based architectural model of 45 architects. Earlier, Chancellor of the University of Bangladesh President Abdul Hamid appointed him as VC for second time for the KU. On January 9, Professor Dr Fayequzzaman handed over charge to treasurer Khan Atiar Rahman after completing his four years term as KU VC.
Freshers' reception, farewell programme held
The Bangladeshi graduate student community in McMaster University organised a freshers' reception and graduates' farewell programme recently, says a press release.
McMaster University is one of the top-ranking university in Canada located in the city of Hamilton Ontario province. Every year, a number of Bangladeshi students get admitted here for higher studies, which is growing significantly. The McMaster Bangladeshi Community (MBC) has welcomed seven new graduate students attending/admitted into different graduate programmes at McMaster on January 28 this year. Two outgoing PhD graduates, who had successfully defended their PhD dissertations, were also given farewell. The event was celebrated with cultural performances representing Bangladesh, where the current students, faculties, alumni and their families gathered to get to know the newcomers and saying goodbye to the two recent PhD graduates.
