The eight-day ‘National Street Theatre Festival 2017’ (Jatiya Patho Natyotsab) is set to begin on the premises of Central Shaheed Minar in the capital today. As a part of the theatre movement of Bangladesh Group Theatre Federation, the 32nd edition of the festival is taking place with the slogan of ‘Mullobodher Abokkhoy Rukhbo, Manabik Samaj Garbo’. The festival will be opened with the rendition of national anthem followed by placing floral wreaths at the altar of the Shaheed Minar. Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu will inaugurate the festival, while veteran artist Rafiqun Nabi, noted thespians Ramendu Majumdar, Nasiruddin Yusuf Bacchu, Golam Kuddus and Mannan Hira, among others, will be present during the opening ceremony of the event today. Convener of the festival Chandan Reza will deliver welcome speech and Mir Jahid will read out the declaration. The programme will be presided over by Liaquat Ali Lucky, president of Bangladesh Group Theatre Federation. Besides, the opening day of the festival features cultural programme, discussion and theatrical performance. This year, a total of 40 theatre troupes from inside and outside Dhaka are participating in the National Street Theatre Festival.
