ICAB offers subjects waiver for DU students
The students of Department of Accounting and Information System (AIS) of Dhaka University will get subjects waiver while studying Chartered Accountancy Course, said a press release yesterday.
The students who have already studied related subjects in BBA and MBA or other courses in the university, they would get subjects waiver upon fulfilling certain criteria.
In this regard, Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB) and Dhaka University on Monday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the the Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of Dhaka University. The signing ceremony took place with the presence of DU Vice Chancellor Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique as chief guest at a formal ceremony with ICAB President Adeeb Hossain Khan FCA and DU Treasurer Prof. Dr. Md. Kamal Uddin.
ICAB President Adeeb Hossain, Prof Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed and ICAB council members Mahmudul Hasan Khusru FCA, DU treasurer Dr Md Kamal Uddin, AIS department chairman professor Abdul Hakim and professor Dr Mahfuzul Hoque, spoke among others .
2 DU students get Ronoda Prasad Award
Two female students of Dhaka University Mathematics Department were awarded ‘Shahid Ronoda Prasad Roy Award of Academic Excellence’ for their outstanding academic results in BS Honors examinations of 2016.
The awardees are Shikha Saha and Jyoti Das. Vice-Chancellor Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique presented the award to the students as chief guest at a function today at the VC's lounge of the university. Mathematics Department Chairman Prof Amulya Chandra Mandal, Applied Mathematics Department Chairman Prof M Abdus Samad, UGC Prof M Anwar Hossain, Provost of the Jagannath Hall Prof Dr Asim Sarkar and Acting Registrar M Enamuzzaman were present on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, Arefin urged the students to equip themselves with non communal values. He also called upon the students to work hard for establishment of social harmony in the country. Shahid Ronoda Prasad Roy was a student of DU Mathematics Department. He was brutally killed by the Pakistan Army on the black night of March 25, 1971.
4-day cultural fest begins at JU
SAVAR: The four-day Cultural Festival-2017 begins at Jahangirnagar University (JU) on Sunday.
‘Jolshiri’, one of the leading cultural organisation of the university, has organised this cultural fest. Assistant Professor of JU Zoology department Dr Kamruzzaman Monir inaugurated this fest by releasing balloons on JU Amar Ekushey Sculpture premises at about 10 am. After the inaugural session, they brought out a procession that paraded different streets on the campus where different cultural organisations of the university took part. Abir Miah, the convener of the festival, said prominent cultural activists from different parts of the country are taking part in this festival. The four-day festival will include music fest, fanush festival on university café premises, poet awards, poetry reading competition, dramatic poetry events and reunion.
Winter cake fest held at Gono Bishwabidyalay
Gono Bishwabidyalay organised ‘Winter Cake Festival’ on its campus at Savar in the Capital on Monday, says a press release.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Md Delwar Hossain and Registrar Md Delower Hossain inaugurated the festival. The festival was arranged with various types of Bangladeshi cake and it was open for all from 12pm to 7pm. During the festival, folk songs enthralled the audience. The students, guardians and teachers of the university took part in the festival.
