House inmate gunned down during robbery

Laxmipur: Armed robbers looted valuables from a house at Andhar Manik in Sadar upazila early yesterday killing a house inmate, reports UNB. The deceased was identified as Safiq Ullah Safu, a former UP member and son of late Abdul Mannan of the area. Officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station Abdullah Al Mamun Bhuiyan said a gang of armed robbers, numbering 10-12, entered the house of Safiq breaking open the door at about 3:30 am and started to loot valuables. As the house inmates raised a hue and cry, the robbers opened fire at them, leaving Safiq dead on the spot. Being informed, police recovered the body and sent it to Laxmipur Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
