Muhith angered at reporters question
Finance minister Abul Mal Abdul Muhith at a workshop yesterday expressed annoyance with a question from a reporter on the quality of work in different projects on climate change and the alleged misutilisation of the fund. The minister reportedly tore up the slip of paper on which the question was written, according to reporters attending the workshop to combat the effects of climate change.
The workshop was jointly organised by the finance division of the finance ministry and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) at a city hotel. The finance minister asked the reporter: What do you know about what is happening in different projects on climate change? Who told you the quality of their implementation is poor? Where is the poor quality? The minister went on expressing his ire: Who has raised this nonsense question? Do you know what is being done? Bangladesh is the best performer in the implementation of projects. I am challenging you! At this stage, the minister tore up the slip of paper on which the question was written and hurled it away. He was then guided off the dais to the front row of workshop participants by the officials to join the tea break.
