Imam Sheikh, who pulled a rickshaw-van carrying Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her ancestral village Friday to see for herself the condition of the villagers side by side enjoying the natural beauty, got a job in Bangladesh Air Force, reports BSS. Besides, the van will also be taken to a museum while Taka 40,000 was given to Imam’s family members for treatment of his ill father and their house repairing.
Squadron Leader of Brishreshtho Matiur Rahman Air Force Base of Jessore Cantonment Harun-or Rashid handed over the appointment letter to Imam Sheikh and the money to his mother Shahanur Begum at their Sardarpara village residence under Tungipara upazila yesterday morning. “I was very much fortunate that our Apa (Prime Minister) chose my van to take a ride. I am very much thankful to her,” Imam said.
Harun-or Rashid said Imam was given a job as per the directive of high officials. “We are taking the van to Jessore from where it will be sent to a museum,” he said.
Imam’s mother Shahanur said Imam has been pulling van for the last two years and he left study after completing Class V. On January 27, the residents of Tungipara saw a rare as well as unprecedented scenario in the late morning of the day when Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on the local rickshaw van along with her family members had a round-about visit at her ancestral village. Sheikh Rehana’s son Radwan Mujib Siddiq Bobby, his wife Peppi Siddiq and their daughter Lila Tuli Siddiq and son Kaius Mujib Siddiq accompanied Sheikh Hasina when she visited the village riding on the van. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina went to Gopalganj on Thursday on a two-day visit to open the 11th National Rover Moot, the biggest gathering of the Rover Scouts, there.
