Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) CEO Nizam Uddin Chowdhury defies the reemerge of two-tier system in the discussion table, stating that there will be no such agenda on two-tier system in Test in the upcoming ICC meeting to be held on Feb 4-5.
The matter of two-tier system in Test earlier was put up in the ICC meeting but in the face of the strong opposition from several countries including Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe, world cricket governing body canceled the proposal.
“We received some proposals from ICC prior to the next meeting but there is no specific agenda on two-tier system,” said Nizam Uddin Chowdhury.
“But this time there has a discussion on the structure of international cricket, where discussion will be held on all the three formats of cricket,” Chowdhury told reporters at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium yesterday.
“Actually the discussion of the then two-tier system is out of table,” he added.
When asked about whether any possibility to induce four-day Test in lieu of five-day Test in discussion, BCB CEO acknowledged the matter and said that the agenda will be the centre stage of the meeting.
“Four-day Test is an important agenda, which will be discussed in the upcoming ICC meeting,” he said, adding “As it’s a cricketing matter the cricket committee of International Cricket Council (ICC) of course will be scrutinized it before putting up in the meeting.”
