Food Minister Advocate Qamrul Islam yesterday said the present government is an education-friendly one and it is giving proper priority to education, reports BSS. “The goal of the government is to raise the literacy rate in the country to hundred percent. And we are working to attain the goal. School children are now getting new books on the first day of the year, which did not happen in the past,” he said.
The minister came up with the observations while addressing the sesquicentennial anniversary of Kishori Lal Jubilee School and College in the capital. Presided over by president of school’s governing body Md Sayeed, the function was also addressed by noted poet Nirmalendu Goon, among others.
