Bangladesh women clinched the final spots in both recurve and compound event of the first International Islami Solidarity Archery Championship women’s individual events when Hira Moni and Bonna Akhter outplayed their rivals yesterday.

Meanwhile, Milon Mollah and Shushmita Bonik won bronze in the individual compound.
In the ongoing 14-nation competition at the Maulana Bhashani Hockey Stadium, the day started with  a disappointing note for the hosts as Bangladeshi Olympian Shaymoli Roy’s elimination in the hands of Azerbaijan archer.
However, Hira Moni and Bonna Akhter kept the hope alive to win gold for the hosts in the women’s individual recurve and compound events.
Hira Moni trounced her compatriot Radia Akhter Shapla by 6-2 set while both the archers from Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Pratisthan (BKSP). 
Hira Moni will face Ramazanova of Azerbaijan in the final. Hira, in her reaction said, “It was not any pressure to beat Shapla in the semifinal, as I defeated an Olympian in the quarterfinal to move into the semifinal. I will try to give my best in the final to win gold.”   
Bonna Akhter defeated her Bangladeshi rivals Shushmita Bonik after a hard contest with just one point when she (Bonna) scored 130 and the former scored 129.
But later on Shushmita won the bronze but had to face huge contest to defeat Bipasha when she (Shushmita) could win by one point with scoring 135 points.  
Bonna will meet Fatima Al Mazdani of Iraq, who won gold in the World Archery Championship in 2014.
Milon Mollah, on his way to win the bronze medal in the individual men’s compound event defeated his Iraqi competitors Waleed by 21 points when the Bangladeshi archer scored 141 points.
Al the team events quarterfinal and semifinal round will be held today (Sunday).
Bangladesh have no chance to win gold medals in the both recurve and compound of men’s individual events when Tamimul and Roman Sana went down to their respective rivals.
In the bronze winning match Ruman Sana went down Laam of Bhutan   4-6.
